Overview

This large housing development saw a High Voltage connection required resulting in the installation of multiple package substations, and a large diameter gas connection and spine main through the site.

Key Factors

Locality: Suitable connection points to the existing networks were identified in a location requiring careful planning and delivery of the civils activities. Both connections involved negotiation with the local residents to ensure that access and disruption was minimised due to the combination of large-scale connections and limited space available.

Spine Mains: The required positions of the package substations meant that over 1km of High Voltage cable installation was required throughout the site.

Gas Point of Connection: A change in point of connection was required due to significant network reinforcement identified at design stage.

Outcome

This project presented numerous challenges relating to the installation and commissioning of the infrastructure, all of which were overcome through collaboration between our Design, Operations teams, and the Customer.
